Duplicate Display is an option to Mirror your display to another screen. This lets you have the same content on two separate screens which will mirror the primary source.

Extended Display is an option to Extend your display to another screen. Which in turn gives you two screens to be more productive.
There are also other display options in Windows 10 such as "Show only 1" but those are kind of meant if you don't want to unplug the cable.
